Is there any way to sell gift certificates with EE, or a plugin, ore has anyone developed anything for this?
Our client as we are finally about to launch their new website has informed me that having gift certificates is a must and a “deal breaker for them” So i am wondering is there anything that you know that has been done in this area. I have read a lot of post requesting the idea but nothing about any implantation.

Hi Gerrit,
The short answer to this is no, we don’t have any gift certificate functionality within core or as an add-on and I’m not aware of any developed by a 3rd part (although I’ll double-check this with the rest of the team to confirm there isn’t one I’m unaware of).
However, can you define how you want ‘gift certificates’ to function? For example, you could put a basic solution together that creates a promotion code in the system that the user can use, although it’s NOT going to monitor the remaining ‘value’ of a promotion. For example if you create a $100 gift certificate and register onto a ticket that is $80, the certificate will not ‘hold’ the $20 for further use with that setup as we don’t have any functionality to do so as it stands.
