Getting the message "There are no upcoming dates for this event."

Hi there, I noticed on our website that for the event scheduled today its displaying the message “There are no upcoming dates for this event.” in the upcoming events and also on the event page itself.
I checked recent forum topics regarding this issue and there didn’t appear to be any answers for me.

– I checked our timezone and it is set properly to a city near me
– I am running version 4.4.3p
– The ticket sales date/time is set to the end time of the event

Do you have any suggestions for fixing this?

Within the Event Editor for that event, look in the ‘Events Tickets & Datetimes’ section – http://take.ms/Emorf

Do you currently have a Datetime set within that section? If so what dates/times are you using there?

Yes I do. The date/times are
Start: 2014-10-14 11:30am
End: 2014-10-14 1:30pm

The reason that event is no longer displayed within the ‘Upcoming events widget’ is that event is now active.

The upcoming events widget displays events that have a Datetime with ‘Event start’ set great than or equal to now(), which your event no longer has. If you set ‘Show Expired Events’ to Yes within the widget, does the event then display?

The thing is that the event technically hasn’t expired yet just yet. It is 10:14am in our timezone, so the event doesn’t begin for an hour and 15 mins.

Hmmm, rather than me asking you multiple questions to check through settings would it be possible for me to take a quick look at the event within the admin?

Is so please send temporary log in details using this form:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

If you prefer not to I’d like to know how the event is set up (datetimes and tickets), the date/time format used & the timezone currently used on the site so I can try to reproduce this.

Sorry for the delay, I’ve spent some time trying to reproduce this with different timezones and various settings and have so far, been unable to.

Is this still an issue or was it specific to that event?

Thanks for looking into it Tony. Right now it’s not an issue. There is an event coming up this Wednesday though. I will let you know if it starts doing it again on the day.

Please do, without being able to consistently reproduce its difficult to find the cause, and therefore a fix.

I have created various events with different date/times set so I also will be monitoring those events on the test site setup for this.

The “no upcoming dates” message is showing up again for todays event.

Hi,

Thank you for letting us know.

I have now managed to reproduce this on my test site and believe I have found the cause, I have issued a ticket for some developer feedback and will update this thread with the outcome.

Hi,

I just wanted to keep you updated as to what is happening with this issue.

We have found the cause and are working on a fix, once that fix has been tested it will be included within the next major release of Event Espresso.

This is also a huge issue for me. The message shows up for me 4 hours before the event starts. WordPress time is correct, timezone is set to a city near me. Event time is for 9pm, but the message is showing up for 5pm onwards…

The event even says “upcoming” with the blue color code, not green…arg!!

Hi,

This occurs as it checks against UTC time. In the upcoming 4.4.5 maintenance release, it checks against the local time. It is being tested internally and will be announced on our blog once it is ready.
