getting GST to be itemised on invoices for EE4

HI guys,

just a quick question regarding GST ( goods and services tax in Australia)

Getting the GST to be itemised correctly was my primary motivation for upgrading to EE4 so I need to get this just right 🙂

Australian law states that when you issue an invoice it must have the GST iteamised on the invoice. Its also illegal to advertise pre-gst prices. GST must be assumed to be included in the final price.

It would therefore suit my needs that GST is recorded by EE4 from the final price. For example if a seminar is $220 EE4 automatically knows that that 20 of this fee is gst.

My understanding of EE4 is that is asks for the pre-gst price and then adds 10.

I guess what im asking is that it would be better for Australians to have EE4 divide the fee by 1.1 and then list gst separetely.

the 2nd issue im having is that the GST is not appearing on the invoice.
For example I have made a test price event of 1.24 with pre GST amount of 1.13 for my event here
http://www.amsn.com.au/events/amsn-vertigo-workshop-for-practitioners/

once I do an enrollment an invoice is generated but it fails to list the tax on the invoice.
I have posted 3 screen shots which show my GST tax settings, event settings and generated invoice here
http://www.amsn.com.au/brentstest/

Have I made an error with the tax settings or could this be small bug ?

cheers
Brent

DOH!!!!

dont you hate it when you dont save the changes you made.

thats what happens when you pull an all old night install.

This is issue is resolved however I would still like the option to calculate the gst in the way mentioned above in future updates.

cheers, no further actions necessary here guys, best of luck dealing with all the other niggles

Hi Brent,

You might find that adding GST via the Add a Price Modifier feature (instead of checking the “This item is taxable” box) will meet your needs.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry I am still a bit confused. I had a look at the add price modifier and the only thing I could find was percentage or dollar surcharge.

I dont see how this differs from ticking the “this iteam is taxable box ”

I cant see how able to configure this price modifer to divide the entered price by 1.1 to calculate the gst and then add this as a separate iteam on price description and the tax invoice.

What I ( and I’m guessing all Australian, New Zealand and Candadian) users was hoping that EE4 would achieve that I enter an amount say $220 click a box stating that this price is subject to gst then EE esspresso produces a breakdown of the price showing a pre gst price of $200 and a gst surchage of $20.

The problem with the current situation is that its hard to get the final value to be square. For example if you see this link
http://www.amsn.com.au/events/amsn-vertigo-workshop-for-practitioners/

i cant get the final value to be $280 square with the current method of using the tax tick box.

I hope Im making sence. Apologizes in advance If I have missed something obvious its been a big few days making the upgrade.

cheers
Brent

Hi Brent,

It turns out the developers that worked on this are all from Canada, so how this is set up makes sense to them.

The price modifier surcharge option still requires you to enter the base price (without GST) then add a surcharge amount. It will display the pricing differently on the ticket selector.

Hope that helps!

thanks Josh.

I did try your method and could see it display any differently so perhaps I am missing something.

Working with the base price is not a big problem and it could just be me that would find my suggested method to make more sense for Australia users. I guess we will find out. would be corious to know if any other Aussie users are feeling the same.

cheers mate
Brent
