Gantry theme conflict

WordPress version: 4.5.3
Event Espresso: 4.9.1

I am experiencing a theme conflict. I am using the Gantry framework with the default Hydrogen theme. In the single event page, the registration form is missing. The rest of the content is there.

I have switched to 2016 theme to test and the form is showing for that theme. So it looks like a theme conflict. Looking at the page code, the form tags don’t even appear in the code so it is not a CSS issue.

Can you point me in the right direction on how to get this fixed? I can PM you login details for the website if needed.

Thanks,
Frederike

Hi Frederike,

The login details are not necessary because the Gantry theme, along with the Timber Library, and the default Hydrogen theme are all available to download for free.

I’ve installed them onto a test site and I can see the same issue. This looks like something in the Timber Library where it’s removing some of the filters on the_content that Event Espresso adds on the single event post type view, but I’m really not familiar with how the Gantry framework and Timber Library are supposed to work.

You’ll also see that if you go into Event Espresso > Events > Template Settings and set the Event List settings to display things like the ticket selector, then go to the /events/ route (this uses a WordPress post archives template), you’ll see the ticket selector there in the archive view.

So a good question for someone that’s familiar with Gantry theme development is, why do the content filters get stripped from the single event posts, but they’re intact on the event posts archive?

Hi Josh,
thank you for your response and for investigating. I have tried downgrading to Gantry 4 and that works as it is not using Timber. Would like to keep using Gantry 5 though if possible so I have also contacted the Gantry developers to see if they have any ideas for a fix…

Hi Josh,

I haven’t really got anywhere except one hint to use {{ post.content }} instead of {{ post.post_content }} to get the Timber version with content filters applied. I tried but it didn’t seem to work for me.

Also the “Upcoming Events” widget is not working in Gantry 5 either. So I think I will revert back to Gantry 4 for this project.

The thing I noticed was some of the_content filters would get applied (the date times section), but none of the others.
