Guys,
Firstly, please let me thank you for the great support so far.

This post is not to log an issue – I just want to find out whether EE can do somthing or not.

What I need is in a nutshell are sub-events that are only available to confirmed attendees. For example you have your main event but you also have optional workshops or seminars that can be free (basic registration required to get an idea of numbers) and/or billable (payment taken during the initial event booking or at a later time).

Is there a way of acheiving such functionality if it doesn’t exist already?

Thanks again.

Hi Calex,

How are you today?

Thanks for the feedback about support, we appreciate it.

Generally, the answer is yes, but a few things here:

– When you say “confirmed attendee” do you mean that they successfully registered and paid for a prior event, or are you manually approving attendees, or can someone become a confirmed attendee at the same time they register and also buy the sub-events during the initial registration/purchase/checkout?

– If you want people to be able to purchase the sub-events at the same time as they register initially, then I would set the primary event as a required ticket, and then create the sub-events as different datetimes and separate tickets. That way you can get counts on attendance and price the sub-events too.

– If people have to buy before they can register for subsequent events, I would make these sub-events different events entirely. I would make these separate events password protected and only give confirmed attendees the password to access the registration page.

Does that help?

Hi Garth,

I’m good thanks.

Regarding your suggestions – you presented some good ideas but not sure if they cover all that I need yet.

– confirmed attendee – meaning registered and paid for day 1, 2, 3, 4 or a 4 day ticket.

– ideally they would select an pay for the workshop/seminars on the initial booking but there would need to be some flexibility to add on for the people that change their mind or overlook on the initial booking.

I’m going throw a more detailed event spec at you.

1. A four day event – in total
2. Attendees will need to have the option to buy:
– 1 day tickets (specific to days 1, 2, 3, 4 because we exact attendance records for each day)
– 4 day tickets that can cover the whole event (giving a 10% discount).
3. There are 3 types of attendee that can buy a ticket and the price will need to be set according to that type.

Example. student, enthusiast, professional (a student 1 day ticket might be £5, whereas enthusiast will pay £10 and a professional £15)

4. Each day will have free and billable (requiring registration) optional workshops/seminars that are only available to the ticket holders of the corresponding days or a four day ticket.

I know this isn’t simple, sorry, but I have faith in you 🙂

Hi there,

You’ll end up with a lot of ticket options to select from, but then again you’re offering a lot of options here. Event Espresso 4 has a nifty feature that allows you to set up each ticket to grant access to 1 or many specific datetimes. So first you set up your four datetimes. Then second, you set up your tickets for each option, you click the gear icon then check the boxes next to the datetime(s) that you want the ticket to give access to.
