Hi!
Have read that others have had the same problem – when people are registering they are getting error messages that First Name field not completed (even when it is). Web designer has tried reading through the forums and trying what worked for others, but with we still keep getting emails. Our tickets are already on open and we’re losing sales so I’d really appreciate any help to resolve ASAP πŸ™‚ Website is http://www.thebigfreezefestival.com.au Thanks

Hi there,

Usually when you see that error is because there’s a JavaScript error being thrown on the page that breaks the form validation.

However I’ve ran registrations on a couple of your events and it seems to be working fine. Is this happening on specific event or did you already find the cause?

Hello, if this started right after updating to WP 4.5, then there may be some errors from your theme.

Please see this link for a solution:

Hi Tony,

That’s one of our biggest problems – we can’t replicate. We’ve had over 20 friends all try with no issues. However we keep getting messages from the public trying to purchase tickets with screen shot or the same description, so we definitely haven’t figured it out πŸ™ Many are frustrated and so we’re losing sales, which is tough for a new event. Any info you can provide on the JavaScript error would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Hi Lorenzo,

This is the first time we’ve used your program, so it’s not a case of changing after we did an update. Will pass that link onto my web designer to read through and if you have any other ideas we’re happy to try anything πŸ™‚

What you can do is when you get a report where they had a problem with the registration form, you can ask them to go to http://supportdetails.com, then ask them to send you the details from that page. This way you’ll know their browser, operating system, and whether or not they have JavaScript enabled.

Thanks Josh – I’ll see if we can get that added as a pop up window or the like to try and reduce frustrations. Just concerned this makes us look unprofessional!

I did work through with one person yesterday and they tried iPad, iPhone and then a PC laptop – all with no luck so I’m guessing in their case it’s the JavaScript. I then had someone else on and iPad and they just pressed submit 10+ times and it finally worked. Does this sound like JavaScript as well?

And how do we deal with a Javascript problem??

Thanks

It doesn’t sound like a JavaScript problem if they tried from an iPad, iPhone, then a PC laptop, unless they happened to have JavaScript disabled in the browser’s settings for all three devices.

Where they hit the submit button 10 times, that sounds more like the response was delayed.

It all just seems strange! They were different people, but we’re just trying to get as much info as possible to try and figure this out.

If it’s not JavaScript, do you have any other ideas?

If you have the exact error message that’s displayed I might have another idea.

It says:

An error has occurred:
First Name is a required value.

Hi,

We do understand your frustration but without being able to reproduce the problem we can’t fix it.

I’ve ran a test registrations using Chrome, Firefox and IE on desktop without a problem.

I’ve also ran registrations on Android, both Chrome and the Default browser, again no issues.

One thing you can check is your memory limit value, if you go to:

Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> System Information (tab)

Now search for wp_memory and check the value shown.

Then search for ‘memory_limit’ and see what you have for global and local values.

Do you know if any of the details users are entering onto the site use special chars?
