Went to update to the newest plugin version. But it failed and i got a failed page on wordpress. When the plugins page was refreshed it was disabled. Now when i try to enable it i get the below error. I dont want to lose what i already have is there a way to rectify this?

Hi there,

I see you’ve already found a solution to this

But it failed and i got a failed page on wordpress.

Sounds like extracting the zip file failed for some reason and you ended up with missing files, which ties into your error showing that it can’t find the espresso_definitions.php file (which is a core Event Espresso file).

Reinstalling the plugin manually is the correct way to fix this and just to address this concern:

I dont want to lose what i already have is there a way to rectify this?

Your EE data is stored within the database, Event Espresso does not remove any of your data when you update/de-activate/delete the plugin itself so you can safely reinstall the plugin without issues.

However, we do still recommend regular database backups just to be safe. Before running updates just run a database backup and save the file, if by chance something did go wrong with the database during an update etc, that one step is going to save all the panic of getting it fixed and hoping your host keeps regular backup etc.
