Fatal error: Function name must be a string in…

Was trying to update an event and received the following message:

Fatal error: Function name must be a string in /home2/[masked]/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/admin_pages/events/Events_Admin_Page.core.php on line 1029

Even just clicking update on the event page with no changes results in the same error. So, I went in to an old event (one that had not been touced for months), clicked Update and the same thing happens.

I’m not a developer so I don’t know where to look. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi there,

One place to look would be the WP Plugins page. Are there any custom non-official Event Espresso add-ons listed there as active?

Hi Liberty Grove,

One thing I failed to mention earlier is you’ll need to upgrade your server from PHP 5.3.29 (or contact your host and ask them to do the upgrade). The error you’re seeing is a result from using an unsupported version of PHP.

The supported versions of PHP are listed here:

Liberty Grove – I removed the Event Espresso API Plugin and that did the trick. No more fatal errors.
