Hello,

I have installaed ee4, when I go to ‘Event Espresso -> Events’ im getting an error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 100663296 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /nfs/home/redacted/domains/redacted/public_html/wp-admin/includes/deprecated.php on line 34

I have 96Mb allocated, this should be enough right?

What to do?

Grtz,
Sven

Hi Sven,

Are there many plugins running on the site? Also is the PHP memory set on the server level or through the wp-config.php file?

If its in the wp-config.php file, then you may want to try raising the memory higher.

imho there not running many plugins 8 in total (visual composer, yoast analytics, yoast seo, limit login attempts, newsletter signup, rev slider, t- countdown, wp-pro quiz)

But it seems to be the problem indeed, when I disable one of the plugins (doesn’t matter which one) it it Espresso works.

I tried setting the memory limit higher in wp-config.php but no effect its stays at 96m so I think its set on server.

I will ask the host if I can upgrade the memory limit.

Thanks!

I got more memory errors later in the process creating an event, after I disabled 4 plugins (rev slider, countdown, limit login attempts, and analytics) it seems to work.

This seems a bit odd, 96mb should be enough right? is Espresso that memory hungry?

Hello again,

Event Espresso doesn’t require a lot of memory. I was just curious running many plugins could cause this issue if there is a low memory setting for PHP.

You mentioned that if you temporarily deactivate another plugin, then Event Espresso works.

Where are you seeing the memory setting at 96M?

The reason I ask is that some hosts restrict you from changing the memory that is set through the wp-config.php file. For example, you may have this macro in your wp-config.php file:

define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’96M’ );

…but your web host may have the PHP memory setting set to a much lower amount on their end.

Here is more information from the WordPress Codex:

So I disabled a bunch of plugins and was creating events, 2 so far with some extra questions, again a memory error.

I see the memory setting via a php info file I created

BTW: do you have WP debugging enabled?

If so, could you set that to false through your wp-config.php file?

I moved back to version 3 because of a deadline and the lack of coupon/discount functionality.

Maybe I try again in the future, when ee4 is more stable.

btw debugging was set to false.
