Hi,
I have been using Eway as the payment gateway for the last 2 weeks and it was working fine. Unfortunatly, now when the Eway payment is selected it redirects to a different page on the website instead of the Eway payment page.

I dont want to use the Paypal option but am using it in the meantime whilst the Eway option is not working. Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

A couple of things to check:

  1. Make sure [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] is on the main registration page and the page is published and not password protected. It can be hidden from navigation, if you want.

  2. You may have outdated template files in the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates directory. You can test this by clicking the “Rename Templates Directory” button in Event Espresso > Template Settings. This can be undone via FTP is there is a problem.

You can start with fresh templates from the newer version. If you have made modifications to the earlier version’s templates, you can copy the modifications into the newer version’s templates. When you’re finished, you can copy the modified files into /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates.

If you haven’t made any customizations, and you’re simply trying to update to the new version of Event Espresso, you can remove the templates from /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates using FTP or your host’s control panel file manager.
Please see this article in the documentation for more info:

Thanks Jonathan.

1: Double checked, it was as it should be already.

2: There was no “Rename Templates Directory” button.

I have not tried to customise any templates nor have I even used any of the others. It’s set to the default.

Nothing was changed between when it was working and when it stopped working.

Matt

Hi Matt,

Is this the Eway rapid integration (onsite) or the offsite version of their gateway? Which page is it redirecting to?

Hi Josh,

It is the offsite version of their gateway.

It redirects to this URL: http://therealexperience.com.au/our-trips/healesville-sanctuary?value=t&x=105&y=42

Thanks.

Hi Matt,

It should be sending them back to the thank you page. I would try re-saving the permalinks settings page and double-checking the page settings in Event Espresso>General settings and make sure the return URL is set to the page with the [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS] shortcode.

You can also turn debug mode on in the Eway payment settings and when you run a test registration, it will show the return that gets sent to Eway, which again, should be the thank-you page.

Hi Josh,

It doesn’t send to the thankyou page, it send to a completely different page. And it should send to the thankyou page AFTER it goes to the external EWAY page, but it doesn’t go to the EWAY page at all. The paypal plugin works fine, but not the EWAY one.

I checked the permalinks settings and made sure that all the default Espresso pages (Event Registration, Thankyou, Cancel, Transactions) were correct as well. Which they were.

I turned debug mode on and it came up with all the info. The return that gets sent to EWAY is correct (the default thankyou page), but the problem is that it doesn’t even get to EWAY first.

Is it possible to send you the admin login details for you to have a look at it?

Cheers,

Matt

Yes, go ahead and fill out the form here, choose “Sidney” in the dropdown, and I’ll take a look at it.

Thanks Sidney,

I went to that page and filled out the form but there doesn’t appear to be a ‘submit’ button.

Hi Matt,

After you fill out the form completely, and after you select yes where it says:

“Have you made sure your FTP and WordPress login credentials work?”

the submit button will appear.

Hi Matt,

I took a look at the admin and did a test registration. This looks like it’s an invalid eWay ID entered in the Event Espresso Payment method settings.

What happens is Event Espresso sends a cURL request to eway’s server to find what URL to send the customer to from the payment page. If it gets a bad response from eWay, it doesn’t put a valid URL in the form action for the eWay button.

What you can do is double check your Eway account and make sure you have the correct ID entered in the Event Espresso>Payment settings>Eway payment settings.
