Event with Multiple priced 'options'

I think I more or less understand by now how to use EE4 for an event wherein people get to choose from a list of options for a set fee, e.g., a conference with several choices of classes that can be selected. Now I’m trying to extend that to a new use.

I’d like to use EE4 to sign up exhibitors for a conference – a basic booth space is $X, meals are $Y each, electrical hookup is $Z, table cloth is $A, and so on for a small number of options.

Obviously I could make each of those options a separate “event” but then the buyer has to make a separate payment for each one, which would be a PITA. I have one theory abut how to use one of the add-on packages to turn this all into one payment, but I’d like to hear from the experts how they would recommend to accomplish this with EE4.

Another theory, of course is to use Woo Commerce or some simple PayPal shopping cart to do this – in some ways that would be better, but I’d like to minimize the number of tools I have to learn and maintain, and I’m already paying license fees for EE4…

Thanks!

Hey Michael,

Would it work to set up the different booths as individual events?

If you went with creating the sub items as event, then you could use the Multiple Event Registration add-on to allow customers to choose different options but they would still technically be events.

We may add the ability to assign products in the distant future but for now the best bet is to probably use WooCommerce or a simple PayPal system like you said.

We have a feature request for this in our public roadmap if you would like to cast your vote or post an idea: https://trello.com/c/KEcG4rLB

Please let us know if you have further questions.

I think it would “work” but that’s a pretty complex and expensive plugin for a relatively simple function.

I’m not sure how having a Woocommerce integration would really help. I’ve started a separate thread to advocate for my feature request.

You might be surprised to see that Multi Event Registration is actually quite simple to use, and the 99.95 ala carte price is a bargain compared to the cost of hiring a developer to build a bespoke solution.
