Hi, I am using EE Decaf version 4.4.4.p, and when I first installed EE I could add a title when creating new events. Now I cannot find anywhere on the new event page to enter an event title.

The sections I have on the new event page are ‘Event Timedate & Ticket’, ‘Venue Details’, ‘Slug’, plus the sidebars on the right hand side. None of these have a field to enter my event title, so all my events appear in my events list as ‘Auto-Draft’

Hi Richard,

Are you sure you are using EE4 Decaf? The .p on the end of the version number would indiciate you are using the premium version.

The issue with the Event Title was due to changes in WordPress core, the latest version of EE4 Decaf is 4.7.12.decaf which includes fixes to prevent this from happening.

Can you update to the latest version and retest this please?

Thanks Tony, I am very confused. When I log in to my EE account, my account page gives my license key as as a long sequence of numbers and letters with ‘_FREE’ at the end.

Underneath it says ‘Not currently activated on any websites’

When I go into my EE settings in my WP admin, and enter this license key, it accepts it, but when I go into Plugins it displays the message:

A new version of Event Espresso available. View What’s New with version 4.8.25.p. A valid Support License Key is needed to enable automatic upgrades. The key you have entered is invalid or has expired. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys or purchase a support license right now.

So I cannot update the plugin to fix my problem.
Very frustrating!

Hi Richard,

It turns out that a key with _FREE on the end is not valid for updating the premium version of the plugin. You can do a manual update with a copy of the plugin you download from Github, or switch to the decaf version. In either case you’ll manually remove the version you have installed now, and install a newer version on the WP Plugins page of your site.

Thanks Josh, as far as I’m aware I’ve never had the premium version of the plugin. According to my EE account I’ve just used the decaf version?

I can see in my EE account page that the latest available download is v4.4.0.decaf

How can I reinstall the plugin without losing all my settings and current events? If I remove the current version and then manually install a new one I worry that it will break all my settings and events.

Best w, Richard

It turns out that you’ll only be updating the files when you remove the old version and replace it with the new version of the plugin. The settings and events are stored in the database.
