I want to make the booking tickets for an event availble only to people having a coupon code.
For example we want to offer re-attendance to an event to previous event attendees for a period. Then we open it to everyone. In this context we send a coupon code to past attendees who can book a ticket with the code. When we open the event up we will add another ticket type.
I have a look through coupon and i cannot work out how to configure this

Hi there,
Currently, you can’t set a promotion code to work on a specific ticket, they are assigned to an event rather than tickets and EE doesn’t allow you to prevent registrations unless the user has a promotion code so I don’t think this will work how you are expecting.
I know from your previous threads that registrants are not WP Users on your site (which would have been one way you could have achieved this) so the only othr option I can think of is to password protect the event and provide the previous attendee with an ‘exclusive password just for you’ so they can access the event and register.
Would that work for you?

we still need the events able to be viewed… Even if this was not a requiremnt it is a huge workload adding and taking off passwords

We don’t have another option to limit ticket sales for a specific time without using the WP User add-on and creating members.
IE if your users were WP members of the site you could add a capability on their role for a specific amount of time, set that capability on the ticket and only those users can purchase it. You can then have another ticket that goes on sale on a specific date/time for general sales.
However, as mentioned your ‘members’ are not WP Members, so this option will not work for you either.
I’ll check with the rest of the team and see if they have any ideas to work around this.
