Event Registration Not Working

Hello,

After doing an update to the newest version of the plugin, my site completely stopped working properly. On the course list, when you click on ‘register’ for the course, all it does is refresh the same page. It does not follow through to the actual event to display the description, information, etc.

Any idea what’s going on? I have an event coming up and I need to get this resolved quickly.

Hi AJ,

You may have outdated template files in the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates directory. You can test this by clicking the “Rename Templates Directory” button in Event Espresso > Template Settings. This can be undone via FTP is there is a problem.

You can start with fresh templates from the newer version. If you have made modifications to the earlier version’s templates, you can copy the modifications into the newer version’s templates. When you’re finished, you can copy the modified files into /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates.

If you haven’t made any customizations, and you’re simply trying to update to the new version of Event Espresso, you can remove the templates from /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates using FTP or your host’s control panel file manager.

Please see this article in the documentation for more info:

Jonathan,

Once I’ve clicked the Rename Templates Directory and received the new path, do I transfer the old templates to this new directory? Or do I have to discard any of the changes I made to the template?

The templates will automatically load from the Event Espresso plugin, so you don’t need to transfer any files after that. If you want to use the changes you made to the other templates you can copy the changes into the new version’s templates.

I went back into the FTP to check the folders. The old template files I got from the custom files zip were transferred to the new directory.

When I place the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] into a page, it will display the events with all the information, questions, etc.

Now when I use a custom shortcode to display all the events in a table, and someone clicks on the ‘Register’ link to open the single event (https://url.com/course-registration/?ee=9) , it just reloads the page with the events in table.

Hi AJ,

Did you replace the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode with a different shortcode? If so, that’s why the event registration is not working. What you will need to do is restore the main registration page back to having the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode on it, and make a new page to display your custom event list. The custom event list page will use the page that has the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode to process the registration.

Josh,

I went back, added the shortcode to a page, published it. Went back into the general settings and linked the events to this page. Now when I click on the custom list to register I’m taken to a page that doesn’t exist.

How do I have someone in support take a look at it?

Hi AJ,

It sounds like you’ll need to make sure that the custom list to register page is published. If you’d like support staff to log in and troubleshoot this we require the purchase of a priority support token:
