Hello,

I’ve been testing EE4 using the demo version and can’t seem to find an option to create a post when the event is published. I’m sure it’s just a simple setting I’m missing?

This is the feature I’m looking for: https://eventespresso.com/features/event-posts/

Thanks for your help!

Hi Emily,

There isn’t one. EE4 uses custom post types so the events themselves are a type of post.

This differs from EE3, where the events were not post types, which was why we had the Event posts option.

Hi Emily,

That feature was introduced within EE3 because the events within EE3 are NOT custom post types (the events are all stored within custom tables)

With EE4 the events ARE custom post types (we still have custom tables, but the events are CPT’s and then we link all of the information from there).

So in short, you won’t find that feature within EE4 because the events are already posts.

What is it you are looking to use that for? It may already be built into EE4.

Hi Dean and Tony,

Thanks for your help. I’m hoping to use the product to manage volunteer signups for events (ocean swims, fun runs etc) and to promote social events for our surf lifesaving club members. We’d like the event to appear as a post so it can be integrated into a variety of pages within the website and shared on social media. For example, I may have one event category for kids events and post those within the ‘Nippers’ section and another for whole club events and post those within the general ‘What’s On’ section. General volunteering opportunities need to appear on our ‘Volunteer’ page.

Thanks for your time,
Emily

Hi Emily,

If the code/theme/plugin you are using can detect Custom Post Types and Custom Taxonomies then you can certainly filter EE events into your general post feed.

You may however, require custom development on you site to allow this, like with any Custom Post Type.

One way to do it (discusses code) http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-add-custom-post-types-to-your-home-page-and-feeds/

Hi Dean,

I’m told that my theme can use custom post types in news boxes. The only problem is that it also uses Visual Composer. After reading a little about it it looks like this may not work with EE. Does that mean I can only use EE if I disable the Visual Composer plugin?

Thanks again,
Emily

No EE4 and Visual Composer can both be activated, however you can’t control the output of the EE event details using VC currently.

EE basically hooks into the_content() within your theme and adds the event details there.

It will use your archive template to display the event listing (because the /events/ page is an archive of the EE events CPT) and you single.php template to display the single events.

Thanks so much for your help. I’ll give it a go and see if I can get it all to come together with my theme!
