I have a VERY, VERY SERIOUS problem!
I installed the latest version of event espresso on my web site. I am using Word Press 4.2.2 with the WP-Church theme.
When I clicked on Activate Plugin, I just got a screen that said the following:

We’re sorry, but Event Espresso requires PHP version 5.3.0 or greater in order to operate. You are currently running version 5.2.17.
In order to update your version of PHP, you will need to contact your current hosting provider.
For information on stable PHP versions, please go to http://php.net/downloads.php.

Now it doesn’t matter what menu link I click on, That is the ONLY thing that shows on my page! I Can NOT access my WP-Admin at all!
I need to get rid of this plugin NOW and restore my WP-Admin!
I DO NOT know what to do. I need help NOW….. I can not do ANYTHING with the web site at all.
Please help…..

I ended up going into my hosting account and renaming the plugin folder and then I was able to access my WP-Admin pages again. I have totally removed the plugin from my server but I would still like to know why it messed things up so bad.

Thanks.

Hi Daniel, that notice should appear in your WP dashboard but should not prevent you from using your WP dashboard.

Renaming the plugin folder deactivates the plugin that was the right step to deactivate if you could no longer browse around your WP dashboard.

Event Espresso 4 requires PHP 5.3 or newer. It will not work with PHP 5.2 or older.

Hello again Daniel,

I wanted to share a quick update here for other members that may see this support post. Event Espresso is compatible with a current version of PHP. It will not work with PHP 5.2.

If your webhost, will not allow you to switch to a current version of PHP, then we recommend switching web hosts.

You’ll see the best performance from Event Espresso with a managed WordPress hosting solution like WP Engine:
