To allow you more flexibility and control while on-site of an event, we are investigating whether there is a need for an iPad app and how it should work. We want to make the best app possible for you, so we would love to get your feedback on what you would like to see included in the app.

It doesn’t matter how small or big the idea is, please let us know your thoughts.

I would love to see a Point of Sale feature – so that the app could either scan in an existing ticket or you could register/enter payment information from the same device. Or at least look up someone’s registration via name, in case they don’t have their ticket. Bring on the iPad app!

Ability to check people in sans QR code. iPad is the perfect device to pull up the list, search for the name, and check in the attendee. This would be great in the iPhone app too.

This is a great idea. I would love this app beyond words!

It should have all the features of Event Espresso now, going forward.

But card swipe of credit cards at point of sale would be at the top of my wish list!

Miles.

Integration with Paypal Here & Square for point of sale tickets.

A simple iPad interface to check-in attendees would be ideal. No QR codes, no need to login to the admin interface and pull up the event. Just an app feature to support the check-in process by attendee name.

Thanks!

We’re definitely thinking about the Point of Sale (Square/PayPal CC readers) side of things as well and trying to figure the best way to approach it. The current plan is to try to build as much of the existing Event Espresso backend functionality into the app as possible (basically make your website a webapp interface for the iPad app — that’s the theory anyway). So searching for attendees by name would be included as well, since you can search for attendee by name in the regular Event Espresso backend.

Keren,

The iPhone app is only as fast as the connection to your site and the time it takes your site to load. I just visited your site and it took almost 45 seconds to load. That could be what is causing the app to load the events so slowly for you.

More of my opinion:
The current mobile app design is a good start. Too many options could be a screen real estate issue if the design isn’t really carefully grouped. I can pull up the web interface if I need to do detailed work. Could go on and on, but here’s a short list that would be nice to haves for our biz:

Today’s events:
-Select Event
–View List of Names where payment is complete
—Mark as attended
—-Click name to view payment details if needed.
—-Notes option for customer service follow up
-Add Attendee (Square integration is optional since that is easy via Square Register for iPad. Just being able to capture walk-in attendee info would suffice.)

Upcoming event:
-Select Event
–View List of Names where payment is complete
—Cancel Option (api integration to process refunds would be great)
—-sub function – if groupon used, reset code to available for future use
–Reschedule Option (wish list item for web & app – move them to a new event at that time)
—Notes option for customer service follow up

Past event:
-Select Event
–View List of Names where payment is complete
–View attendance status
—Reschedule Option where attendance=no

One thing I love about one of EE’s competitors iphone app is the ability to ‘check in’ attendees without an internet connection. ie dload a list of attendees using the app then check them in while offline.

I find that using this over 3G is quite slow, and not everyone has blindingly fast servers to host their site.

Just a simple dload of attendees, then check off names while offline is all I need. Same for the iPhone app, which is a little cumbersome over 3G.
