Hi
We recently upgraded from Event Espresso 4.6.x to 4.8.x.
We had the same migration issues as described here:

We ran the 2 queries from my PHPMyAdmin and it reduced our Database size from 80MB to about 16MB and the migration completed with no problems.
This was last week but since then the database size has crept up to 30MB and there are 52,589 records in the wp_esp_line_item table.
My understanding was there are clean up functions in EE 4.8.x to combat this but it does not seem to be working.

This sounds like an incorrect assumption because there shouldn’t be a need to clean anything up if there isn’t a mess to begin with. Is your site getting hit by a lot of spam bots? If so, can you try installing this plugin:
