ESPRESSO_CART_LINK does not display properly

I have put the shortcode for the Espresso_cart_link into the description of an event I have. I have set the “Display registration form” to “No” and I have put in the proper id for the event. Here is the code: [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”2″ anchor=”Register for This Event”]

My problem is that the “Register for This Event” shows up, but when I click on it, it reverts back to the “View Cart”. From there I can go to the cart page. But when I go back to the registration page, the “View cart” is the only thing I see. The “Register for This Event” is gone and it will not come back. I can get this to show again, only if I completely close my browser and re-open the page again.

Help! Here is the page: http://www.theatremobilis.org/tickets/
It is the “Test” event. Any help would be appreciated.

Jon

Just an addendum, if I clear my cookies, it reverts back to the correct view, but it still does not navigate to the cart when I click on the link.

Hi Jon,

This is correct behaviour.

Whether you use the shortcode or the add to cart link thatis automatically enabled, the user will click these and the event will be added to cart. On clicking the view cart they can start the registration process of adding ticket numbers and paying.

The event will remain in the cart until they either remove it from the cart or as you did, clear their browser cache/session.

What is it that you are trying to achieve here? If I can get an idea as to your objective I may be able to assist further.

Sorry, I thought I had replied to his already. The behavior I was expecting is that when I click on the “Register for This Event”, it would take me directly to the cart. Taking two steps to complete the process is going to be confusing for the end user.

Also, for the event, they have three options: “Register for This Event”, “View Details”, or “Add to Cart”. They are going to see a single price at the top of the event – confusion #1, they are not going to know what to click on – confusion #2 and if they do click on “Register for This Event”, it is not going to take them anywhere. They will then have to click on “View Cart” to take them to the cart.

There has to be an easier way.

Hi Jon,

You can change your shortcode from:

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”2″ anchor=”Register for This Event”]

to

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”2″ anchor=”Register for This Event” direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Redirecting to cart…”]

This will make it redirect to the cart with one click.

That works perfect! Thanks for the fix!
