Error when processing payment

Hi,

As soon as the transaction completes, it says An invalid registration was received. A valid registration for this transaction could not be found.

I have tried added the pages to be excluded on the cache (using w3tc cache plugin) but the error still shows. Can you please guide me the best way on adding the pages to the bypass on the plugin?

I am also using a maxCDN.

Thanks

Hello,

For W3 total cache, could you double-check that your page slugs are correct if you have renamed any of the defaults? For example, our documentation has registration-checkout as the slug for the checkout page. However, if you have renamed the page, then you’ll want to use that updated slug instead of registration-checkout.

Is your registration checkout page running over HTTPS?

If so, could you ensure that your WP dashboard (WP-admin) has also been secured to use HTTPS?

MaxCDN is should not cause any issues. I have it setup on a testing site that I use for Event Espresso.

Hi,

Non of the page slugs have been renamed, the whole website (including wp-admin) is running in HTTPS.

Hi, are you seeing any errors into Chrome developer tools or Firebug when the transaction occurs?

If so, please try raising the memory available to PHP through your wp-config.php file:

https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

A link to an event would also be helpful as we can inspect the ajax response to see the cause of the error.

Hi,

I will check the PHP memory later today.

Here is the link to the event – I haven’t allowed online bookings yet though.

We’ll need to be able to place a couple of test registrations so we can see this.

If you prefer you can create another event just for testing, you can also set that to be password protected within this section – http://take.ms/51YN1

That will prevent regular visitors from registering onto the event, you can then post the password here, a password such as ‘eesupport’ will be fine, its just so that we can view it.

Okay I have done that. I am using Stripe (still on test mode) so you can use the stripe test cards for the transactions – https://stripe.com/docs/testing

Test event – https://westonemanor.com/events/test-event
Password – eesupport

You might not get the error the first time, but maybe the second.

Thanks

Hello,

I’m seeing this message:

An error has occurred:
The selected method of payment could not be determined due to a technical issue.

Could you double-check that everything is up to date in terms of the add-ons?

Next, are you using the payment methods pro add-on?

I get to the part where it says ‘proceed to finalize registration’ and still get the same error message as in my first post.

Seems to work fine with the Chrome Browser. May I ask which browser you’re using while testing?

I am using Chrome as well

Have you checked with your host to see if there is any server-level caching in place?

I’ve checked and there is no server-level caching in place.

Do you think that it could be because the event espresso plugin is being served through a CDN (which isn’t on the same domain)?

Hi,

I think the best way is to uninstall event espresso from my main site and install it on a separate site (domain.com/newwordpress)

Now, if I uninstall event espresso, would I be able to activate it on my new wordpress install?

Thanks

Hello,

You shouldn’t need to create a separate installation of WordPress for Event Espresso.

I looked at your support post again and I noticed that there are several different error messages being reported so its possible that your site is running out of memory at different points during registration checkout.

Could you try raising the memory that is available to PHP by adding a constant towards the middle of your wp-config.php file?

https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

Try 96M and if there are many plugins on your site, then try 128M.

I have installed event espresso on a separate wordpress install and it seems to be working now – although I haven’t tested it enough yet.

I have also realised that the error : The selected method of payment could not be determined due to a technical issue. is caused by 3D secure being activated on Sage Pay and it not being supported on EE.

Are there any plans on integrating 3D secure with event espresso?

Thanks

Hello,

3D secure with Sage Pay is not currently planned as an addition to the Sage Pay payment gateway.

Have you considered using an alternative like Braintree?

They currently have a promotion where they will pay credit and debit card fees until you have received over 50,000 Euros in payments.

This offer is available to merchants in the European Union and the United States and you can learn more here:

https://www.braintreepayments.com/faq#free-processing

Another feature is that you can also accept PayPal payments through the same payment gateway addon. PayPal transactions fees are not covered by the promotion above and this does offer some flexibility for your registrants/attendees.
