Ever seen this error?
ERROR: Too many failed login attempts. Please try again in 20 minutes.
I’m getting it all the time since upgrading to the latest version of EE4. Hosting is FlyWheel. Other plugins installed are Contact Form 7 and Login with Ajax.
I can login if I change IPs, but momentarily after I login, I get that same error message as above. Clearly I’ve already logged in, so I don’t know why I would get such a message. Strange? I think so…

Hi Daniel,
That error message is not from Event Espresso, or WordPress itself.
Do you have the Theme My Login plugin installed? I found this:

Which would suggest it’s a feature of that plugin. Try de-activating that plugin by renaming that plugins directory, this would be the theme-my-login directory, NOT ‘plugins’ (add ‘-temp’ to the directory name and it will de-activate the plugin)

I do not have the Theme My Login plugin. The only plugins we have are
– Login with Ajax
– Contact Form 7
– WP Google Map (forgot about this one)
It’s all on a plain vanilla install of EE4 using Iced Mocha theme. No php customisations or anything besides what is provided by EE.
The solution: I disabled the Login with Ajax and that seems to have fixed the problem. Strange, because it was working normally before I updated to the latest version of EE. I’ll have to find some substitute for this now. As a hack, I upped the failed login attempts limit to 9999. After this, every time I went to wp-admin to login, immediately on page load I would see an error message “9997 attempts remaining”, etc. Every page reload generated two failed login attempts. This seems pretty strange/suspicious.
