Hi

I can’t resend registration details to clients, and get an error message. Same with any resending process.

Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/www/web113/html/blueprint/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/libraries/messages/EE_message_type.lib.php on line 599

Please help. Clients need that process working.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray,

Can you go to Event Espresso -> Messages.

Do you see a list of message templates there?

Ray

Hi

Funny. There is only one template in use: Newsletter.

Can I restore them from a backup?
If so, where do I find them?

Thanks,
Ray

Within that same menu (Event Espresso -> Messages)

Go to Settings. Toggle the message off, wait a few seconds then toggle the messages back one once again.

http://take.ms/52oTT

That will recreate the Message templates.

Thanks, that worked so far.

How do I get my translations back?
I have edited the messages.

Hi Ray,

If the message type was reset, then those edits have been lost. You can replace the existing messaging and then save changes.

Hmmm.. Ok.
How do I save my changes in future cases like this?

Hi,

You shouldn’t need to reset in the future. There is a pop-up warning that appears in the currently releases.

Ok. We’ll see. This came out of the blue and changing language in those files is quite some work.

Thanks for your support.

Hi Ray,

Which version of EE4 are you running please?

Did you recently make any changes within Event Espresso, deleting events, registrations, transactions etc?

Ray

Hi Tony

I upgraded today to 4.4.4 during researching the error.
Last week I deleted a registration. Since then its been quiet.

Hi Ray,

Were these changes through the messages editor?

Were these changes to to language made to through the messages editor? When you reset a message type, it should prompt you with a warning. We just want to ensure, that notice is appearing.

Yes. I edited the Default Message Templates.

When you asked me if there was a list of templates, there was only one «Newsletter» visible.

Before or during resetting the templates no message appeared.

Can the Custom Message Templates be used as replacement for the Default Message Templates?

Hi Ray,

It depends on exactly what you mean by this.

Can you explain a little further please?

Hi Tony

I understand that I can create a custom message template. But can I have a custom message template be used per default? E.g. “My custom pending payment template” instead of “Default pending payment template”

Not currently, however the default templates should only be created on initial activation, they are then stored within the database.

What this means is you can edit the default templates and they should remain that way through each EE update. The default templates are then your default templates as opposed to ours.

Then any custom templates created will be based on those ‘new’ default templates.

Does that make sense?

Ok. Makes sense.
It would be great to have a backup & restore function, just in case.

My adaptions in the default templates were all lost. Which is a pain in the .. – you know what I mean.

Thanks Tony,
Ray

It would be great to include some form of backup/restore, I will create a feature request for this but I can not comment on if or when it will be included.

The templates are stored within the database, so you could backup the wp_esp_message_template & wp_esp_message_template_group tables.

Note – wp_ is the site table prefix, it may be different on your install.

Thanks Tony. Looking forward to it.
Keep up the good work
