Hi this is post goes along with a Support Token I just purchased. Essentially I keep getting a ‘Error Code: 10002’ on Check Out. I’ve gone through a bunch of support posts and articles and am still not sure what is causing this.

Here is the page: https://www.abamedicine.com/event-registration/

Here is the full error:
Attention: Your transaction was declined for the following reason(s):
Error Code: 10002
Short Message: Security error
Short Message: Security header is not valid
Severity Code: Error

Hi there,

I checked your site and it looks like there may be a few characters missing in the PayPal API Signature field set in Event Espresso > Payment settings.

The cause of the 10002 error usually indicates an issue with the login information you are using for your PayPal connection.

We recommend these steps to ensure you have the correct credentials there: Remove your credentials, then re-enter them. If you copied and pasted the data, make sure there are no spaces before or after the information. We also recommend first pasting them into a text editing program such as Notepad or TextEdit to ensure this.

Hi Josh. I reentered the Paypal API credentials according to your instructions. I’m 100% certain they are correct. Unfortunately I am still getting the same error. Settings on WordPress HTTPS look correct, and I’ve confirmed that the site’s SSL certificate is up to date.

Thanks I really appreciate any help.

Hi there,

I had a look at the PayPal API credentials you used and I’m pretty sure they were incorrect. I’ve made a slight change the PayPal API Username you are using (details to follow via email) and tried running a test payment with dummy card details, I now get the card can not be processed rather than error 10002.

Can you double check the login details that are now in use match your API credentials please, you’ll need to double check all of the fields set within the PayPal Payments Pro section.

Error 10002 is only shown under 2 situations:

1. The credentials are incorrect
2. The credentials are being sent to the wrong API endpoint

The API endpoints are set by Event Espresso, enabling sandbox uses the sandbox endpoint but otherwise it will use live. These have not changed so unless you have modified the PayPal gateway that just leaves #1.
