Emails not generated from custom templates

I’ve set up a few custom templates and I’m not triggering any messages from any of them. The default templates work fine and I can see those messages going out.

I’ve set up the setting to send all messages at once but still not seeing any. What am I missing?

Hi there,

May I ask exactly which templates were set up as custom (i.e. was it a Registration Approved template and/or others)? Also, do the events have the custom templates selected in the Notifications box of the Event editor?

Hi Josh,

We only set up Registration Approved to go to various emails. The are triggered by selecting within certain events in the notifications box.

Thanks!

I’m not sure if you can tell by the front end but this event has a custom message template for registration approved. http://67.227.186.56/~jansenartcenter/events/ceramics-woodland-creature-homes/

Hi there,

I’m sorry, I do not understand your reply. Do you actually mean you’re tying to send emails to multiple email addresses with those custom templates? Maybe you can post a screenshot of the Notifications box in the event editor, and a screenshot of the to and From fields of the custom template editor screen.

Right now the custom template just goes to one email. https://www.screencast.com/t/pSWapEmkN7R

If access to the admin will help let me know and I’ll set up a login.

Does the email send when you try the Test send from the message editor?

Also, when a registration is set to Approved status, does the custom email show up in the Messages Activity table?

Oh wait, it looks like it IS going to the email set up in the custom message templates. I’ll need to run through this with the recipient to confirm.

One last question which is related. Can you put more than one email in the “To” field? I did this in the default template and that doesn’t seem to work.

Thank you!

A few mail servers do allow more than one email address (comma separated) in the To: field, however many mail servers do not allow more than one. One workaround for this is you set the address in the To: field to an email address group that can autoforward to a group of individual email addresses.

So this is strange. Some of the default messages like payment declined are going to the email in the default message template. For some reason the Registration Approved is NOT sending out emails. I’ve tried with just one email or different ones. https://www.screencast.com/t/eWmcD3WJu1b

I went ahead and reset the template and I can’t get it to send. I’m manually changing the status so maybe something isn’t getting triggered but it’s sending approved to the registrant and the custom message recipient but not to the default message email.

Hi there,

I’m not sure what you mean by “not to the default message email”. What’s that?

So for registration approved I have the following:

Default Message Templates:

event admin email

Custom Message Templates:

Studio email
Event author email

I’m in test mode so I go in and register for a class. I get payment declined because it’s not live. Then I manually go in and approve the registration.

It seems like no matter what I do I only get 2 emails sent out. One for Event Admin and one for the registrant.

When you select a custom message template you override the default message template rather than select an additional template so it sounds like your current emails are how it would be expected to work.

Can you let us know what your trying to do?

Are you trying to send 2 admin emails to 2 different email addresses?

Actually yes. We want to sent out registration approved to at least 3 emails. Plus the event author email isn’t sent out even when I set up custom template just for that one shortcode.

Does the system only allow one custom template?

The system only uses set of templates per context. So when you set an event to use custom email template for a Registration Approved message type, it will use what’s available in that set of custom templates.

There are 3 types of recipients:
1) Event Admin
2) Primary Registrant
3) Registrant

What you could do in this case is set up the custom Primary Registrant email and send that to the Event Author. This way you’ll use all 3 available recipient types to send out the 3 messages.

OK, I was able to make this work. I was even able to put in 2 emails comma delimited and both went out.

We got held up because the domain we were emailing to wasn’t receiving them. I think it’s because it’s being generated by WordPress and the host is blocking them.

So thank you for the responses and helping work through these.
