Email Templates empty after domain name change

Hello, we updated our domain URL. Not our first time, and followed the usual steps including a find/replace. The site did not move. Database did not move. Just a domain name change. Other than a hick-up with the payment gateway (resolved) the only other issue noticed was the EE4 message templates were empty. Except our custom ones. I saw support forum mentions of this happening with a website server move, where database tables were potentially missed. We had some things in these templates I’d rather not have to remake but wondering if I will? Thoughts or suggestions?

Hi there,

May I ask, what did you use for the find and replace?

Do you have a database backup from before the domain name change?

How comfortable are you with phpMyAdmin?

Hey, I used a plugin I haved used 1000 times before as a developer. Including on sites with EE. Since writing this I actually went looking in PHP my admin at the wp_esp_message_template etc tables and started finding the content, adding that to the templates and saving them. Which seems to be working. I am not sure where the disconnect came in.

Just to clarify, I’m not questioning if you have done this correctly, I’m trying to narrow down what was done to narrow down the scope a little.

Before my reply all I knew is you did a search and replace, now I know you did so using a plugin, but which plugin?

If you can let me know, I can try some domain name changes using said plugin to see if I can reproduce.

If the only change made was a domain name change you could likely have just exported/imported the tables, but either works ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh yeah, no worries I did not think you were insinuating that at all ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m just saying it was a bit of an oddity from previous experience. I used “Search and Replace – https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-and-replace/
My preference to the one by “Delicious Brains” when I am not migrating a site.
Due to my need to hastily update, I did copy all copy/info back into the templates including our custom Zoom AFC data, then re-saved and my tests are working great. I will mark this as resolved for now since the issue is no longer an issue but definitely, if you have any insights I can keep in mind for future I would appreciate it!
