Hi,

I am in test mode with Stripe. I have been doing test transactions and the emails I am receiving from EE are showing a payment of $0.00. Is this because I am in test mode and no real money is being spent? Or is there an issue?

Hi Cindra,

The payment amount should be shown like this:

Are you running the latest version of Event Espresso 4 and the latest version of Stripe?

I think so. I don’t have any updates anyway.

Here is what mine looks like. http://www.artnook.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Screen-Shot-2015-12-18-at-11.04.11-AM.png

Hi Cindra,

Could you provide us with a screenshot of the payment received notification for the primary registrant?

Go to Event Espresso –> Messages –> Payment Received –> Primary Registrant.

We are looking for something like this:

Uh oh..I think we might have found the issue.I turned off my payment received message because I did not want so many messages going to my customer. See screen shot

Hi, was that recently turned off? The email that you shared earlier looks similar to the payment received message type (with some edits):

No it has been turned off for a while. The email that I think people are receiving are the custom emails (REGISTRANT) that I created.

Hi, there may be an issue with [AMOUNT_PAID] for that specific message type. I’m running some additional testing Please switch it to this one which does work:

[TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID]

Then save changes.

Ok. That works but should the email going out be the primary registrant email? Instead of the registrant?

Hi, it depends on the context that you have created for the registration approved message type. By default the primary registrant is deactivated (appears greyed out in the messages overview screen – http://cl.ly/0f1116473w2q) and the registrant and event admin recipients are enabled.

Double-check the dropdown that is selected which looks like this:

http://cl.ly/1y1K3W3a3T2R

If there is a shortcode in the TO field for the primary registrant for your custom template, then remove it and save changes.

Then go to the Registrant by selecting it through the dropdown (see image above). Then add this shortcode to the TO field for the registrant context:

[RECIPIENT_EMAIL]

Then save changes.

Ok. So right now my primary registrant is deactivated (greyed out).

Then when I go through them the to fields say this:

primary registrant: blank
registrant: [RECIPIENT_EMAIL]
event admin: [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL]

Is this how it should be?

Also I am fine with the registrant email being the one sent out when someone registers. As long as there is no issues with that?

Hi, the setup that you described is how Event Espresso works by default for the registration approved message type.

Also, I spoke to Tony about the [AMOUNT_PAID] and that is specific to the Registration Payment Received shortcode so it was not intended to be available in the Registration Approved message type. That was an error.

You’ll still be able to continue using this one:

[TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID]

Thanks

Ok. Great. Then this issue is resolved. I have replaced my code with [TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID] and it will stay that way.

And there is no issue with the registrant email being the one sent out? Correct?

Hi Cindra,

That isn’t an issue as the registrant recipient is enabled by default.

Thanks

Hey Lorenzo, do I need to change all the other email messages like “refund issued” and the others to have the code [TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID] instead of [AMOUNT_PAID]?

Hi Cindra,

Yes, you’ll want to change any other message types where you are wanting to show that information.

Be sure to save changes by clicking on the save button after editing them.
