Email Confirmations Not Sending

I know there have been a lot of other threads on this, but nothing seems to be matching my experience.

Both send before payment and send payment confirmation emails are set to YES

I have installed the WP wordpress mail log and nothing is entered into the log when I complete a test registration. HOWEVER, when I click the resend registration icon in the attendee list, the email confirmation copy DOES send. So, WP is sending emails. Emails are coming to me when they are sent (not ending up in SPAM) BUT nothing seems to be being sent upon completion of the registration.

I originally posted this as a community forum post, but just now renewed our license and wanted to make sure this is seen as a premium post so we can get some assistance.

The system is not sending any automated emails upon completion of registration to the admin or the attendee. The system is also not sending emails upon completion of payment to the admin or attendee.

I have installed the mail log WP plug in that is commonly recommended in these situations. There is no entry in that table so I know these are not simply ending up in my SPAM. They are not being sent.

HOWEVER, I can send a duplicate registration confirmation manually using send confirmation link in the attendee list. Those duplicates DO end up in the mail log and DO end up going to the registrant.

To clarify, both the send confirmation email options are set to yes in the settings.

Hi there,

One thing that you can do that may help is set those two email options to No, then save. Then you can set them back to Yes, then save again. This will help make sure the settings aren’t stuck.

Thanks for the reply Josh.

I just tried complete test registrations (including payment) with both email settings set to NO and then tried again with both set to YES. Still the same result. No entry in the email log. However, when I go back to the attendee list and “resend” the registration it shows in the email log plug in and it comes to my in box.

I can certainly provide you with screenshots and access if that would help.

Screenshots would not help in this case, access might help. You can send access via our secure form:

Hi there,

I tried the credentials you sent, and the log in page returns: More Information Required: Correct Username, Correct Password.

Can you double check those and resend? Thanks.

Thanks again. I just resent a simplified username and password. Please try again. Thank you.

Hi Christopher,

It’s a good time to update the old Event Espresso plugins that you have to newer versions. The versions you have running right now were released over 3 years ago and are no longer supported. I recommend updating the core Event Espresso 3.1.20 version to its most current version which is currently 3.1.37.4.p. You can download 3.1.37.4.p from your account page.

The Calendar and Social Media Add-ons will also need to be updated. Since the versions you have installed did not include the 1-click updates feature, you can follow the manual updating instructions on this page:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/#update_manually

Along with that, it may help to try deactivating the Event Registration plugin, as it’s very similar to Event Espresso and may be conflicting.

Can you confirm . . . are you saying that the older version is not working because it is older? It was working? What would have changed? Do you know why the version we currently have has stopped sending email?

It looks like the “manual” process will destroy all of our current data. I did not see any any instructions for migrating events to the new version. Thanks

Hi Christopher,

Re:

Not at all. The older version is not not working because it’s older. It would probably work just fine if the version of WordPress was also 3 years old. The thing is, you have the current version of WordPress ( 4.2 ). Our plugin from 3 years ago isn’t compatible with the current version of WordPress. We’ve released maintenance updates Event Espresso 3 when needed to ensure compatibility whenever there were changes to WordPress.

It looks like the “manual” process will destroy all of our current data.

The manual process will not destroy your current data. This is because your data is stored on your server’s database. Your data is not stored within the Event Espresso plugin’s files. It’s the same with WordPress, when you update to a new version of WordPress, your posts, pages, and settings are not destroyed, because you’re removing and replacing the PHP files. The data is separate.

I did not see any any instructions for migrating events to the new version.

This is because there are no instructions, when you activate the new version, the data migration happens automatically.

Hi,

Anything else we can help with regarding this topic or can we mark this as resolved?
