EE_DROP_BAD_TABLES not running

Hi all, I’ve had to install a fresh copy of EE on a website that got hacked. I can only assume the previous version wasnt up to date as I am getting the message about tables existing when they shouldn’t. I’ve tried adding EE_DROP_BAD_TABLES to my config file and then reuploading my files but I still get the errors.

Am I doing something wrong? OR is there some sql i can run to manually fix this?

Thanks 🙂

Hi Zoe,

Did you restore specific tables within the database to restore the site?

The notice stating the tables are incorrect happens when EE checks within your system info and finds the last installed version of EE. It then checks which tables should exist based on that version and compares them with what tables are available.

So there may not actually be an issue with the tables, but rather your system information is incorrect for the tables that are present.

Do you need the current EE data that is on the site or do you want to start fresh with EE?

Hi, it was the files I needed to replace, not the database, the database hasn’t moved or been restored.

What I need to do is install a clean version of EE, I can only download the latest one so I installed it and now get those errors. I’m not sure what version they were running prior to the hack – it wont have been very old. Maybe a month or so.

If you’ve not modified the DB at all then it sounds like something has wiped the option that EE sets to keep track of the previously installed versions.

If that’s the case you can just dismiss the notices and EE should continue to work as expected from there.
