Hi,
Got a quesiton around promotions.
I’ve got 100 tickets buyer for an upcoming Event.
Been thinking of giving a little christmas gift to these buyers and the gift should be that they each will get one promotion code to use for inviting maybe a friend to they Event at a discounted price.
Is it possible to accomplish this?
I would like to avoid to create a promotion that anyone can use, it would be great if each promotion/discount code was assigned to each already registered attendee.
If I would use a general prmotion code, it would mean that anyone who would see it, could use it. And I would not be able to limit to 100, as if ONE attendee would share this promotion with more than one persons (eg. 50 friends) that would leave only 50 promotions to use for the other 99. 🙂

You can set the codes to be used one time.

Would that mean I have to create 100 unique promotion codes and send to each and every one?

Yes, you would need to create individual promo codes to fit your requirements.
You can not assign promotions to specific users but you can create as many unique codes as needed and send each attendee one of those codes. Setting the uses value for the code will mean that code can only be used once.

Can I install the promotion plugin but not show it on the front-end until I have tested to see how it works?

No, the users would see the submit a promo code section within the checkout.
Do have a development/staging copy of the site?
If not I would highly recommend setting one up, it allows you to make changes and install new add-ons on a working copy of the site without the pressure of the live site breaking if something goes wrong. The development copy can be either a local copy of the site or installed on a sub directory/domain on your sever.
