EE4 Spamming emails

Hi everyone
So I have had something mighty weird thing happening in the copy of EE4 on the my companies website. What is happening is that whenever some registers, or we change someone’s details, the system spams them with a registration details is they have paid, or payment pending emails if they haven’t roughly every hour. This continues even when you trash the registrations, only when you force the full delete does it stop.

I have tried restoring the website and database back to before the problems started, but it is still messed up. The change didn’t seem to happened after an update (I think we have updated to 4.9.9 a couple of days before, I feel the issues would have started sooner if it had been the update). I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on what might be causing this problem, and what I might be able to do to fix it.

My current plan is to try and roll back to a previous version of event espresso to see if that helps.

Was your site updated to WordPress 4.6? Did the change happen right after the site was updated to WordPress 4.6?

We recently upgraded to 4.6, but that was about a week before this issue started, so I suppose that could be it, but the delay between the upgrade and this bug starting up was making me think that these are probably not related. Having said that, I am hardly an expert, so I would be keen to hear your thoughts. It would probably be worth trying an downgrade to 4.5 to see if that helps.

You could also see if updating to WordPress 4.6.1 helps. There’s at least one fix included in 4.6.1 that affects email delivery.
