Is it possible to send a pending payment email if someone fills only the first step of the form and abandons the payment page?

Currently we are trying to decide what to do with those who select tickets, fill out the registration form and CLICK the “Proceed to Payment Options” button, but do not select a payment method. This sets those registrants to a Incomplete/Pending Payment status which is the same status as other registrants who select an Offline Payment Method. This means that they are technically registered, but they would not know as they never receive a notification email of any sort. Can you please assist us?

Hi there,

If the user does not finalise the registration EE will not trigger the emails automatically, we can’t change that as then all abandoned registrations would trigger emails regardless if they actually expect to attend your event.

This means that they are technically registered, but they would not know as they never receive a notification email of any sort.

Whilst the registration will show in Event Espresso that use does not apply to the events ‘sold’ values as the registration is not ‘Approved’ (only Approved registrations apply to the events).

You can manually trigger the notifications on the registration you select in the admin if that’s is what you are trying to do?

Hello,

That is understandable.

Our problem is that when the registrant goes through the registration and selects an offline payment method (EX: Pay by Check), the registrant gets set in Event Espresso as the status: Incomplete/Pending Payment. This registrant would get an email providing them with instructions on how to pay offline. On the other side of this, a user who fills out the registration form but does NOT select a payment method, gets set in Event Espresso as the status: Incomplete/Pending Payment. They do NOT receive an email instructing them to pay or that they are registered. When you look at the reporting later on, these two registrants look identical and you can not distinguish between those who are actually submitting an offline payment and those who have abandoned the payment.

Registrant A:
1. Selects Offline Payment Method
2. Receives Pending Payment Email
3. EE Status: Incomplete/Pending Payment

Registrant B:
1. DOES NOT select a payment method
2. DOES NOT receive an email
3. EE Status: Incomplete/Pending Payment

Our end goal is to be able to distinguish between the two types of registrants (Registrant A and Registrant B). Currently, they are undistinguishable. This results in us not being able to accurately track who is actually going to attend our event (as we allow those who have selected an offline payment method to attend and pay after).

I hope this is a bit clearer to understand. Please let me know if you have any questions!

You can view the Transaction record in Event Espresso > Transactions, then click on “view additional transaction session details”. There you will see a list next to Registration Step Progress.

If they did not finalize the registration it will say:
Finalize Registration : Never Initiated

If they did finalize the registration it will say:
Finalize Registration : Completed.

Further to Joshes reply, I’ve put together a snippet that will add a ‘Finalize Registration Step’ column to the CSV which will be either ‘Complete’ or ‘Incomplete’ based on the above which may help identify these users quicker:

Add that to a custom functions plugin on your site:
