EE4 Promotions not working on selected events

I am able to get promo codes to work if they apply to all events but if I select individual events I get an error message when trying to apply saying the code is not available and to try again or try a different code.

If I change the code to apply to all events it works.

Hi Andrew,

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of Event Espresso 4 along with the promotions add-on:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/

Could you share a screenshot of the promotion in the promotions editor?

We do not need the actual code right now but it would be helpful to see certain areas such as if the promotion code is set to exclusive.

Here is how you can share a screenshot with us:

Hi, these are screen shots of the promotion. It says the code has been redeemed but it hasn’t. Also if I filter the events that it is active on it shows one event twice although that event is only listed once in the events module.

Screen Shot 1

Screen Shot 2

And another issue I have with the system issuing 11 instances of a code when the limit was set to 10. Also on the overview page where does the 80 come from ?

Screen Shot 3

Screen Shot 4

Thanks in advance, Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Was anyone previously running testing under the promo / discount code under a test registration?

If so, those would be counted even if the registrant/attendee did not immediately pay. This is because they would have the option to try their payment again if the registration pending payment message type was not turned off.

It is on by default and goes out when a registration attempt is made but payment is not complete or the registration selects an offline payment option like Invoice or Check.

On the count that is showing 80, that is not expected and I’ve reproduced the issue and created a report so our development team can review.

I’ll update this support post once I have more information.

Thanks and have a happy new year!

Thanks Lorenzo,

No one did any testing on the live site. We ran a test site prior to go live with the EE4 upgrade but that was a completely different set of data.

I’ll keep an eye out for your results re the random 80 number.

I have just had another registration even though the limit was set to 10. We are now up to 12. To prevent any more I have changed the expiry date.

I am unable to upgrade to the latest version of core as it says my license has expired.

I have been waiting for my renewal date in 15 days to change from EE3 to EE4, have requested license reset.

Hi Andrew,

Your support license key ending in c56f is currently linked to this website:

http://www.appletonphototraining.com

If you requested the release / reset earlier today or last week, then it may have already been processed by another team member.

Where are you seeing the expired support license messaging and could you confirm that the last four of the support license key in the general settings page of Event Espresso is c56f?

Thanks

Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo,

MY license key for http://www.appletonphototraining.com ends in c56f

I have now reset it and the core plugin has updated.

I will keep an eye on the promotion code problem.

Regards, Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

After looking over the settings in the screenshots, it looks like you’ll need to set Apply Promo to All Scope items to No. Also, the 80 comes from number of scope items, in this case 8 multiplied by 10. The number of items is per scope item, which in this case is events.

Thanks for the explanation. So if I want to issue a promo code that is limited to 10 uses across all events, not 10 for each event, how many do I enter? Or is this not possible?

That’s not possible at the moment because the number of uses amount is applied per scope item, which currently the scope item in promotions is limited to events.
