Hello,

I have a ticket marked as taxable. How to I show the total price
in the registration-checkout page? Currently both the subtotal and
total show the base price (without tax).

Thanks.

I would also like to know if this is possible. I’m aware it’s not the case in the US but in most of Europe we show the prices including tax and just have a breakdown at the checkout or on the receipt.

Hi there,

Instead of checking the Ticket is taxable box, I’d recommend using a Surcharge Price modifier. This will display price including the tax. Here’s a screenshot of the setup. Here’s a screenshot of the ticket price breakdown with the surcharge price modifier set up.

Hi Josh,

This seems like a good solution. However, I only get four options in the “Price Type” dropdown:
– Percent Discount
– Dollar Discount
– Percent Surcharge
– Dollar Surcharge

From the screenshot I see you have a “GST” option. I tried creating a new “GST” price type but it does not show in the dropdown. I could select “Percent Surcharge” and fill the details for every ticket but I have many and does not seem practical.

Thanks again.

It wouldn’t be practical to manually add a price modifier like this to every ticket. The good thing is Event Espresso 4 has a feature to make a default tickets. When you set up your ticket initially you’ll want to be sure to include the price modifier in the ticket like GST or percent surcharge (as an aside I created the GST modifier just like you did). Then be sure to check the box at the bottom that says “use this new ticket as a default ticket for any new events”.

Then when you go to create a new event, your tickets will start out with the surcharge amount already entered.

Hi Josh,

I will use that approach for future events. However I have a lot of tickets in my current events. Can you tell me how did you create the GST modifier? I tried creating a new GST price type in the “Management/Pricing/Price Types” section but it does not show in the dropdown for the tickets.

Thanks once more for your time.

Sure, I went to Event Espresso > Pricing
clicked Add New Default Price Type
selected Surcharge for Basic Type and filled out the name and selected Percentage
then clicked Save and Close

Then, in the event editor when you go to create a ticket, you have to click “Add Price Modifier” in the ticket editor before you’ll see the “Select Modifier” dropdown selector.

Thanks Josh, I was creating the Price Type as Tax instead of Surcharge. Now it shows in the dropdown.

For a future release, it would be nice if you could save the name, description and percentage of the new Price Type so that you don’t have to type it every time.

That solves my problem, thanks for your help 🙂

It turns out you don’t have to type it every time with the current release of Event Espresso 4 if you check the box at the bottom that says “use this new ticket as a default ticket for any new events”.
