Hello Support,

Could you shed some light on how the EE4 Custom Template can be modified so that events can be grouped based on the venue city (or a custom field, category, etc)?

Hi,

I assume you’re referring to the Events Table template.

Without modifying the code you could either:

Set up categories related to location, and allow the user to filter the categories (perhaps using localization to rename the Category Filter to Location Filter).

Add categories related to location to the events and add the shortcode multiple times using the category parameter:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE]
[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE category_slug=”aaa”]
[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE category_slug=”bbb”]
[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE category_slug=”ccc”]

This will add the template multiple times and with the parameter in use it will limit events just to that location.

Thanks Dean,

My events are already categorized by course type, however I believe if I create multiple categories of the course type with the city appended it should do the trick.

Thanks, please keep this topic open for now.
