EE4 Calendar not loading

I just installed the calendar add on for EE4 on a client’s site. The calendar will not load, just shows the spinning gear. I’ve tried on Firefox 37.0.1, Safari 7.1.5 and Chrome Version 41.0.2272.118 (64-bit) on a MacBook Pro. I just tried logging out of WordPress on Firefox, now the calendar loads, still does not load in Chrome and Safari. Just spins and spins.

I tried switching the theme to 2015, did not help.

Hi,

I tested your site with

Chrome 41.0.2272.118 m (64bit Windows)
Safari 5.1.7 (7534.57.2)
Firefox 33.1.1 & 34.0.5 & 37.0.1 (I was behind with updates…)

None of these had any issues, though it was on a Windows machine.

Can you try on a different machine other than your Macbook and see if the issue persists?

On the Macbook, can you check the browsers developer tools (Inspect Element) and see if there are any errors in the Console area.

I don’t have another machine to try. The calendar is working today on all 3 browsers for whatever reason. It did not work on 2 occasions over the last few days.

I found this in the Firefox console area:
Error: Permission denied to access property “toString” calendar:42:4
The Web Console logging API (console.log, console.info, console.warn, console.error) has been disabled by a script on this page.

Do you know what that means?

Thanks!

Dianna

Hi Dianna,

This sounds like there may be a conflict with another plugin, or your theme. Try to rule out any plugin conflicts. Deactivate all non Event Espresso plugins and test to see if the issue is still occurring. If it is not, then we know it is a problem with another plugin. You can then find out which plugin it is by reactivating each plugin individually and testing to see if the problem starts happening after the activation. When it occurs after activating a plugin, then we know this is the culprit.

I tried deactivating all other plugins and switching the theme to 2015 just in case it was a theme issue. Still the calendar just spins and spins.

Hi Jean,

I ran some further tests via BrowserStack with Chrome 41, Safari 8 and Firefox 36 all on OS X Yosemite.

I also tested Safari 7, Firefox 36 and Chrome 41 on OS X Mavericks.

I also re-tested on my Windows 64 bit machine and also on a Chromebook.

At no point has your site failed to load the calendar.

I can only conclude that the issue is local to your computer. I would have suggested a browser extension as possibly having some effect but it’s unlikely you have the same extension across 3 browsers. Though it might still be an idea to disable all browser extensions to see if it has any effect.

Other than that, I’m a little stumped. I would suggest trying the site out yourself on a friends/co-workers computer. If your computer is networked I would try it in the network and outside of it too.
