EE4 booking reply email

I’ve been testing the booking system and when generating a new booking with EE4 the first automated reply letter is coming through with a about a full page of code before getting to the visual content of the email. I can cut and paste the code if required, but just to get this topic listed will keep it brief.

Hi Russell,

I need to ask a couple of question if I may.

Is this with a free or paid event?
What is it the ‘Default Registration Status’ for the event?
(Within the Event Editor under ‘Event Registration Options’)

What it is the Subject for that email?

Have any of the ‘Messages’ templates been modified at all?

This will help us narrow down the issue.

Its a Paid event with the default reg status set to payment pending

Subject line: Registration Pending Payment

Non modified templates, all straight out the box, so to speak,

One of the events I’m setting up can be seen here: http://yaktrak.com/events/zen-bullet-manali-leh-2014/

Would you like me to forward a copy of the email so you can see properly what is being sent out?

Hi Russell,

Are you seeing this issue with the latest version of Event Espresso 4? You can check to see if you are running the current version through WordPress admin –> Plugins.

Hi Tom,

May I ask which version of PHP are you running?

There is a few ways to gather this info but we have included it within Event Espresso also. If you go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance. System Information Tab. Then search for php_version it should be displayed.

@tomsor3 Just to confirm you are also running the latest version of Event Espresso 4 (currently 4.1.8.reg)?

Currently we suspect either an issue with the server configuration or the emails are being marks as spam by either your email service provider, or the recipients. Take a look here for more info:

http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/my-emails-are-being-delivered-as-broken-html-code-or-an-attachment/

To eliminate any server configuration issues could you try using the Mandrill Trasactional Email service (its free up to 12k emails per month)

Once you’ve signed up use the wpMandrill plugin to connect to the service and run a test registration, is the correct formatting now used within the email?

Yes.
I am using Event Espresso 4.1.8.
I will see if I can configure Mandrill later to give it a try..

Hi.
Errormessages disappeared when we moved to a newer Exchange mail server…
It seams it has something to do with the mailserver receiving the emails…

Hi tomsor3,

Thank you for letting us know.

It is likely the previous server flagged the emails as spam and sent them through as plain text, most email clients will still attempt to display HTML correctly if found within the email. Unfortunately there is not much we (Event Espresso) can do to stop this from happening short from using plain text emails.

I’m glad your emails are now sending correctly. If you run into any other issues just let us know 🙂
