EE3, Show Different Calendars by Venue

We have multiple venues now and volunteers will register for a service date at that venue. I understand that EE3 Calendar option did not allow calendars by venue – is that still the case? If we use a unique CATEGORY for each venue, will that work? We would have different calendars on different web pages depending upon what the volunteer requested. Thanks

Hi,

It could work to use a category. You would need to assign the category to each event for the venue.

Another way to direct the volunteer to a venue specific calendar would be to include a URL parameter in a link to the calendar page. For example, if your calendar page is https://example.com/calendar, and you want to show only events from the venue that has ID 3, the following URL will show only events for that venue:
https://example.com/calendar/?event_venue_id=3

Josh, thank you! That worked great. I was under the impression that venue IDs could not be used but apparently they can. BTW. Can we specify more than one venue ID in the example you used? Much appreciated

Hi,

One venue ID only. If you want a calendar that has multiple venues you could create a category, then assign events from those events into the category. Then use the category parameter in the calendar shortcode.
e.g.
[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=category-id]

Thanks Josh, we use different categories now for the types of events. The venue option might work for us if I can hide/remove the display of the venue of the event registration page. Is there a way to accomplish that?

Go to Event Espresso -> Template Settings.

Set ‘Display the address in the registration form?’ to No and save.

That will remove the address details from the event registration page.

Is that what yo are looking for?

Thanks Tony, this solved the problem for us. We have 2 sites where volunteers will serve. We also use categories to define the type of service or where it will occur (if offsite). We needed to have 2 calendars (one for each site) and by removing the VENUE address from the form, it solved the problem. Much appreciated
