EE3 First Data E4 Gateway Payment Overview

EE3 latest update with various addons.

The issue is the payment is being taken fine through the First Data E4 gateway, but when the gateway returns the user back to the ‘Thank you’ page for the payment overview, it is displaying a blank area where the content should be.
See – http://screencast.com/t/NER7U0woeS

The force SSL is on for the ‘thank you’ page.
There is nothing showing in the code for the payment overview information.

Has anybody any ideas on what is happening?

Thanks.

Update on the above, this is only for ‘declined’ payments.

The approved payments are now working, after speaking to First Data Support.

Do you get an error message “There was an error processing your transaction!” followed by a response code? Or do you get an email saying that there was an Instant Payment Notification failure?

No message, just a blank white area where the content should be for the payment overview with the error.

Currently going through the emails yesterday to see if there was any IPN failures. I don’t recall seeing any failed payments in the attendee list.

The first data support were a bit perplexed why the successful transaction were showing, but not the declines, as it is the same area, just with a different message.

Hi Paul, you mentioned that the thank you page is being secured via HTTPS.

Is the relay URL for FirstData E4 also using https?

Thanks Lorenzo,

I’ve checked the First Data E4, and it wasn’t using the https. I’ve now updated it with the ‘https’, and we will have to retest it in the morning following this message;
“This URL requires security review by E4 support staff. This process typically takes 1 business day however check back periodically to watch for the approval. Until approved, the Relay Response function cannot be performed for this payment page. Note: you can still save any changes made to this payment page.”

The relay response URL in the EE payment settings was matching with the same URL in First Data E4 without the ‘s’ for the http. Will the updated relay response URL be updated on the EE payment settings automatically from First Data E4 being updated?

Having the ‘Thank you’ page being on a force SSL is the right approach?, as without it the payments were not going through.

Thanks.

Hi Paul, I recommended that change since you have secured your thank you page (force SSL). That seems like it could cause an issue if FirstData tries to reach your page via http and then the connection is redirected to https.

Let us know if the issue continues after its enabled.

Thanks

Thanks Lorenzo,

I’ve updated to https in the response relay URL, and the thank you page is still showing any payment overview for any declined payments.

I’ve spoke to First Data E4, and they confirm that all the settings are connected successfully, and the issue of the decline not showing is for the shopping cart to review.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

*Correction

*I’ve updated to https in the response relay URL, and the thank you page is still ‘NOT‘ showing any payment overview for any declined payments.

Just a blank area, where the payment overview should be.

Hi Paul, I could not find another report of this issue so I’m setting up a testing site to try to duplicate it.

I’ll update this support post once I have more information available.

Thanks

Hi, I just finished up testing on this. Here is what is happening.

The FirstData page is a hosted page similar to PayPal Standard. The link that you are seeing is simply a general link to take the user back to your site:

http://cl.ly/image/1T3X0e2t2E0e

It does not differentiate between a processed order and a failed order.

I did notice that FirstData lets the payee know if their payment is successful or not so I would change the text for that link to something like this:

Click here after your payment is successful!

Thanks Lorenzo.

It appears that we were slightly misguided by the FirstData support making us have an AUTOPOST setting instead of the suggested Link.

In the end, the user experience appears to be successful payments return back to the site for the Payment overview, and any unsuccessful payments remain in the FistData gateway where they are informed that the payment has been declined.

Result. Thank you!
