Hi I am using the custom template calendar in table view.

I have used the recurring event manager to create multiple events and this has resulted in Expired events still having the registration open as I had to put a registration expiry as a year in the future in order to set up the event as recurring.

I use these tags on the display page
[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”calendar-table”] To display a Calendar list of upcoming events. Unfortunately all instances of event now show.
Is there a way to show only events in the future rather than all events?

Hi Steve,

This is not an issue with EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW but an issue with how the events where created.

Although in one sense those Events are expired (event start date < todays date), within Event Espresso they are still activate due to how the Recurring Events Manager (REM) was setup when you created them meaning that the registration end date > today’s date.

When using REM you have two options for the registration dates.

‘No (each event’s registration start and end dates will be incremented according to a formula).’

or

‘Yes (all created events are available for registration between the above registration dates).’

It appears you selected Yes… which sets the registration start and end dates for all of the events to be the same, meaning all the events stay active until that registration end date is met.

So you’ll want to select No and set the registration start date roughly 1 year in the past (as you are creating a years worth of events) & the registration end date to match either the event start date or the event end date so that the event ‘expires’ on that date.

Then REM will create the events and increment the dates for the events so that all events close on their correct event start date.

Can you send me log in details so I can view the events and advise the best way to fix this please?

If so please use https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Hi Steve,

I’ve had a look at the site and all the visible events are active events rather than previous events? I’m guessing you’ve been manually altering the dates?

Some recurring series have been setup using the Formula option –
1. ‘No (each event’s registration start and end dates will be incremented according to a formula).’

Other recurring events with:

2. ‘Yes (all created events are available for registration between the above registration dates).’

http://take.ms/kpfg2

So all the events created with option 2 will remain open until the registration end date you set.

Before going through all the settings individually, if when creating the event series you could set the registration start date, the registration end date and then have an option to set each individual events registration end date to match that events start date, would that work better?

Thanks Tony

The events have just been set up , the site is going live this week.
I’ll edit the exisiting ones and make sure any new ones are set up as per your recommendation

Thanks again
Steve

Hi Steve,

Just checking how this went, are the events correctly configured/working as expected now?
