hi ee friends!

i’m having trouble with emails not sending from ee.

wordpress will send change password emails.
mandrill is set up and will send test emails.
i have set up email-log. there are things in the logs, but none of the registration resends i’m trying to do are landing in the mailboxes that are in the logs.
i have set up email-check and sent successfully from the same email i’m asking ee and mandrill to send from.

can you help me get this working? thanks again!

emily sparkle, this time for hangout-usa.com 🙂

Hi Emily,

So some emails are working and others are not?

Mandrill has an outgoing tracking option through the account dashboard. If you look at the recent sends, then do they show as sent?

Also, does the your organization name (set in General Settings for Event Espresso) have any special characters in the name?

as far as i can tell, the ee emails are failing consistently. (contact form 7 is also failing across lots of my sites since a recent update.) password reset emails send fine and i can send tests thru the mandrill and check-email plugin backends as long as i’m not trying to send to the same address that it uses as the from address.

email always puzzles me, so i’m not sure what else to tell you that is helpful.

the organization name is HangOut, USA so… there’s a comma…

http://imgur.com/1VEWY4h is a screenshot of my mandrill account. let me know what else you need. it shows ee and wpcf7 failures.

thanks for all your help.

Hi,

Since this is failing across multiple plugins (e.g. Event Espresso and Contact Form 7), then try removing the comma in the name in these locations and saving changes:

WP-admin –> General Settings

WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Your organization

If Contact Form 7 has additional settings, then try updating their settings as well.

Then try resending an email through Event Espresso and through Contact Form 7.

If it works, then install this site specific plugin and activate it which will attempt to resolve issues with special characters in the from name:

https://github.com/eventespresso/ee-code-snippet-library/blob/master/third-party-integration/de_ee_fix_mandrill.php

You can then restore the commas to the name of the organization.

Before doing the above, within your Mandrill account go to Settings -> Rejection Blacklist.

Or click this link: https://mandrillapp.com/settings/rejections

Do you see a list of email addresses there?
(Don’t remove them from that list if you do, just confirm if you see anything)

i did not have anything in the rejection blacklist.

sadly, removing the commas from the company name in the General Settings and EE settings didn’t change anything. i did not install the fix you linked. WPCF7 doesn’t have that kind of field.

bummer! thanks for your help. let me know what i can do next.

also, i just noticed you can click the Rejected link and the box “Reject Reason: unsigned” comes up for all of them.

helpful? i’m not terribly familiar with mandrill.

Hello Emily, you may need to setup SPF and DKIM:

https://mandrill.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205582267

I did some digging and found a similar report with reject reason unsigned from just a couple months ago that was due to a typo on the email address in Mandrill.

Could you double-check the email address that is set in the Mandrill account and then in Mandrill settings in your WP dashboard?

both emails in my mandrilapp.com settings and wp-mandrill settings point to registrar@hangout-usa.com. i have done the spf and dkim for this email and the spf for the gmail account we want to use in the reply to field.

i didn’t have mandrill installed before i started troubleshooting the email problem, fyi.

Hi Emily,

Could you reach out to Mandrill support to see if they have more insight on why the emails are not working?

Thanks

Lorenzo

Whilst waiting I recommend you double check you have verified the domain with Mandrill:

https://mandrill.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205582247-About-Domain-Verification

If that is a new Mandrill account you’ll need to have setup SPF and DKIM records for your domain to work, if you haven’t that’s why your getting the unsigned error.
