EE is still allowing folks to register for closed classes…and we can't see it!

Hi there! We use EE to register kids for enrichment classes. Last session we had a problem with folks being able to register for closed classes and we got no information about it whatsoever. Extra folks just showed up and it was a complete surprise to us. Can you tell me what may not be configured correctly? I am taking over this site with very little background with EE and wasn’t around for the last session. I’m not sure what to look for first. Many thanks!

Hi Kathy,

A few questions:

When you say the event was closed, do you mean that the event date gone past?

Have you checked the registration and event dates for the events with issues? For example does registration close before the event starts?

You said that they registered but you got no details – do you mean no email was sent? If so did the customer get an email? Was the attendee logged in the Attendee Over view page for that event?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, just trying to get a clear picture of what’s occurring.

Hi Dean! Thank you so much for your quick reply. The issue is people are able to register and pay when the event has exceed the maximum number of attendees and no information is coming to us about their registration for this event. No email, nothing.

It looks like you need to update the customized/outdated templates in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates.

Can you post a link to an event page where the event is full, but people have been able to register?

Hi,

When checking the Aerial Play link you provided (I can’t trace the robotics one without a link) it correctly shows me the full message http://take.ms/vxH9x

Are the users logged in to the site when trying to register?

Have you been able to duplicate this issue? If so, how?

Is there anything that the customers have said about the registration process that might be a clue? – browser used, group or single bookings, booking at the same time as friends?

And I am sorry to ask, but is it possible that these people are just trying their luck and turning up without registering?

Hi Dean! Thanks for all your questions. No, I don’t believe the users have to be logged in when they try to register and in the instance the admin remembers they weren’t. The admin says that the customer paid for the class and we were able to verify that payment amount on our end, but it did not come through EE.

We haven’t been able to duplicate the issue since enrollment closed for those classes. We’re just trying to make sure it doesn’t happen with our new sessions we’re starting up.

Hi,

Thanks for that. Well honestly I cannot see any reason why this even occurred in the first pace. We are not aware of any issues that would allow this or heard of anything recently that is similar (at least I haven’t).

As it is currently a one off, I would ask you to monitor the issue and if it arises again to contact us immediately about it, and with any additional information you can provide. We can then try to troubleshoot the issue.
