Hi – I’m evaluating EE for a client’s needs and am hoping to get an idea of how best to approach set up.

1 If they sign up for a Stripe account, and we use the Stripe integration that comes with EE, my understanding is the processing will all take place directly on the clients’ site – is this correct? I understand that’s the way Stripe is supposed to work, just wanting to clarify that’s the way it’ll work with EE.

2 Presumably I’ll need an SSL for this?

3 The client has a live site that I am rebuilding, so the development will take place firstly on MAMP/localhost, then probably a live dev site. Is there any issue I should be expecting to run into with this?

Looking forward to trying this out, thanks for the help.

Hi Larry,

The credit card info is taken on your client’s site, but Stripe takes care of the payment processing on their end. I think what you’re asking though is whether the customer stays on the client’s site without going to a 3rd party site, and the answer is yes.

2 Presumably I’ll need an SSL for this?

Yes. More information about Strip and SSL can be read here:

https://stripe.com/help/ssl

3 The client has a live site that I am rebuilding, so the development will take place firstly on MAMP/localhost, then probably a live dev site. Is there any issue I should be expecting to run into with this?

That depends on how familiar you are with migrating a WordPress site, including the database. Here is a link to the documentation in the WordPress codex:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_to_a_New_Server

There are also plugins out there that can help assist moving a WordPress site from one server to another, like BackupBuddy and wp-migrate-db.

Thanks for your reply Josh. I do a lot of WP work so no probs migrating. The client has agreed to go with Stripe today so this all sounds great. Just wanted to clarify before I committed them to it.
