Duplicate Event creates multiple duplcates

I’m running the latest version of all EE plugins and WP 3.8.

I just created a new event by using Duplicate Event button and ended up with 7 new identical events. Last week I duplicated event and ended up with 3 extra identical events. This used to work just fine in the older versions as I use this feature a lot.

Thank you,

Jake

Hi Jake,

When you duplicate the event are you then pressing any of the filter buttons? (‘Status’ etc)

This is a known issue in that when you duplicate the event you’ll see only one event (the original) if you then use the filters to try to load all the events, it actually creates another duplicate each time you use the filter. (Changing the filter 6 times produces 7 duplicates, the intended 1 and 6 others)

A fix has been included within the next version of Event Espresso which is under going testing, as a work around, when you duplicate an event. Click the ‘Event Overview’ heading to get back to the main event list.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your reply. That explains the behavior.

1) How do we stop creating duplicate events when using the filters next time?

2) How do you suggest cloning an existing event without using a filter? We have a total of 100 or so events and I need to use filter to find what I need.

Thank you,

Jake

The duplication issue is only when you use the filters directly after duplicating an event. For example here is a view of Event Espresso -> Event Overview.

http://d.pr/i/aPTM

We are going to duplicate the event ‘Duplication Glitch Demo’ (ID 321), open the event, click Duplicate.
http://d.pr/i/Zjzf (Click ok on the pop up)

We are now taken to this screen http://d.pr/i/tSt7

That event you see is actually the ORIGINAL event that we duplicated (see the Event ID) *this is changed with the new version to take you directly to the duplicated event*

It is as this point that if you use the filters the event becomes duplicated again. To test from this screen, click ‘Filter status’, nothing will change. Click Filter status again. No change.

Now click Event Overview. You will find 4 ‘Duplication Glitch Demo’ events, the original, the intended duplicate and 2 ‘filter bug’ duplicates.

You can now use the filters as expected with no issues, as mentioned the bug is only when using the filters directly after the duplicate button.

The changes made in to fix this must be tested thoroughly and therefor are set to be included within the next release.

For the time being, once you click duplicate, then ‘ok’ on the pop up. Click Event Overview and find the new event from there, this will work around the issue for the time being.

Does that help?

Tony,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I will close this topic and will wait for the fix in one of the upcoming releases.

Thank you,

Jake
