Downgrading to EE3 from EE4

I need to revert back to EE3 for payment gateway reasons.
I was going to do the following:

1. Deactivate EE4
2. Delete EE4 (from WordPress)
3. Upload my backup of EE3 from yesterday
4. Activate EE3

Does anyone know if I’ll run into trouble downgrading this way? I don’t have a ton of data to preserve but would like to if i could.

One other step we recommend taking is to revert to the site’s database backup that was taken before EE4 was installed. This will ensure that all your critical event pages and shortcodes get changed back to the state they were in before the upgrade to EE4.

If you didn’t make a database backup then you can also manually change the critical event pages and shortcodes back to the way they were before.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I wasn’t easily able to restore from my backup (a ton of dev work was done in the meantime that we couldn’t lose). I ended up downgrading, looks like EE3 is now in, but my events aren’t showing up.

Is there an easy way to delete the EE3 database in WordPress which would allow me to start over fresh?

Not really, which is why we recommend making a backup of the database before updating to Event Espresso 4 and then restoring the database to the backup point taken before the update in order to go back to EE3.

What you’ll likely need to do is check and make sure that the Event Espresso 3 shortcodes and Event Espresso 3 critical pages get re-set to what was there before. We outline how these need to be set up in the Event Espresso > General Settings > Page Settings and in this document:
