Is there any documentation available to assist with the development of a custom Payment gateway. We have commweb (ANZ eGate) with our EE3 installation and we would like to move to EE4 but we need the gateway for this to happen.

Hi,
Not currently. We are in the midst of re-writing how the gateways work in EE4 as we were not satisfied with the flexibility they currently offer.
As such any advice/guidance we provide now, will be obsolete once the new gateway rewrite is released (no timescale yet but it is being actively worked on).
If you still wish to move ahead and create a custom gateway for EE4, then the best advice is to examine the code structure of an existing gateway that resembles your gateway (e.g. PayPal for offsite gateways, PayPal Pro for onsite gateways).

I can also recommend looking at the gateways in EE 4.6 as that’s where you’ll find the new gateway method that Dean was referring to. You can request github access to see all the latest changes:

Documentation for writing a payment gateway for Event Espresso 4 is now available:

This was written based on Event Espresso 4.6 which is the next major release after Event Espresso 4.4.x.
