I have the barcode scanning add on for EE4. Does this mean I just need the barcode on the tickets? What purpose does the QR code serve?

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

A QR code is just another type of barcode.

We include ‘standard’ barcodes and QR codes for higher compatibility. Some scanners work better with barcodes, other QR codes, so we include both.

The main difference with QR codes is they can store more information without causing too many issues when scanning.

Thanks Tony. So it sounds like, once I have worked out which scanner I am going to buy/use, I can then decide on which barcode to include on the tickets.

Hi Nick,

Yes that’s pretty much right. Just make sure that the scanner can scan specific bar code types. The ones EE4 uses are:

code39
code93
code128
datamatrix (QR code)
