Is it possible to keep events displayed in the calendar even though they have passed? It there a way to accomplish this automatically.

I know you can use “show_expired=true” to show these events which works fine but when you click on the event title it won’t take you to the original event page.

Even when events are full I can still click on the button to view the page and the event description but once that date passes the link disappears. Any suggestions?

Hi,

The show_expired= true is definitely the way forward with this.

I know you can use “show_expired=true” to show these events which works fine but when you click on the event title it won’t take you to the original event page.

Can you provide a link to an example? I tested this locally and clicking the expired event in the calendar sent me to the expired event page.

Can I send you a private link?

Absolutely! Send it to support@eventespresso.com. Please include a link to this forum page.

Thanks for the link. The event itself still links through, but yes the tooltip no longer has a link.

This is expected as it is possible that with a full event, there could be a waitlist or link to something else within the event, but an expired event no longer needs it as there is no way to register.

I can add a feature request for this, but I cannot guarantee inclusion as it has not been requested before.

I understand that but can you at least point me to the file that I can add this functionality in so they can click on the “Registration Full” button? I need people to be able to view the description of past events. Can you also tell me which file to modify to keep the description visible as well instead of it hiding?

Hi, could you let us know the version of Event Espresso that you are running?

In Event Espresso 4 along with the calendar, the excerpt is shown along with an event details button which takes you to the single event page.

I’m running EE3.

Hi,

/wp-content/plugins/espresso-calendar/espresso-calendar.php starting approx line 775. There’s a whole block of code there that controls the wording and links on the tooltips.

Please note we do NOT recommend modifying core files, nor do we support those changes.

Regarding the description, copy these files to your wp-content/uploads/template folder

/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/templates/registration_page_display.php
/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/templates/registration_page.php

Both need to be copied, but you will likely only need to edit registration_page_display.php

This is an older version I made for something similar, and should give you an idea how to modify your version to show the description when the event is closed (don’t use it as is, as it may not work with the latest version of EE3) – https://gist.github.com/Apina/7868957

That was just what I needed. Thank you!
