Hi,

We’re attempting to upgrade EE from _ to _ using these instructions;
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/

The database fields are not being updated by the database-install.php script as far as I can tell. PHP crashed while executing EE functions complaining that it cannot find columns in tables.

Hi David,

What version are you trying to update from and what version are you trying to update to? I was able to successfully update from Event Espresso 3.1.34 to 3.1.35.

We’re trying to move from Version 3.1.27.1.P to 3.1.34.

When we do that, I cannot seem to get the new database columns.

For example, the table “wp_events_attendee_meta” has the column “date_updated” when the plugin successfully updates the database.

However, when I follow the EE plugin upgrade instructions (deactivate, delete, upload new EE version, activate), the database is not updated.

I’ve got a staging version and I’ve tried this many, many times.

I am able, of course, to get the new plugin installed and running. But it fails during execution and I get PHP error log dumps with SQL errors asking for columns that don’t exist in the database.

So I need help upgrading the plugin and making sure the DB gets updated.

If you have just touched our staging environment, you have indeed upgraded Espresso to version 3.1.35, but the database tables do not reflect the new version, and thus the site will have errors.

to clarify, those errors I get happen when using my site that uses EE, not when installing the plug-in.

Also, EE version 3.1.35 is fine too, I’m sure, but I haven’t used it.

My local machine has successfully had the upgrade work, but I cannot make it successful anywhere else.

For testing purposes, I can restore the staging server back to it’s pre-upgraded state with a previous copy of the DB and EE plugin.

Let me know if that would help.

Hi David,

What type of server are you on? Is the server running the latest versions of MySQL and PHP?
