Customizing the wording on the Thank You Page

I have tried two of the solutions on this page, but neither is working:

I tried both PoEdit and the custom function in functions.php. Neither has any effect. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Correction: I have now tried all three methods described on that page, and none of them are working for me. Thanks for any help.
