We have had this working for over a year with no problems and for some reason either yesterday or today it stopped and all we get now is the code that we use.

Have you checked to make sure the plugin is activated? Also, is that a valid filename in the shortcode’s template_file parameter? The Custom Template add-on does not include a template with that name, but it may be that someone developed one and installed it on your website.

Would the plug in become inactive? the code has worked for a full year so I am not sure why. It is on all the pages that we have used a custom code:

Are you able to go to your site’s WP > Plugins page and check to see if the Custom Template add-on is activated or deactivated?

Yes it is on the plugin page and yes it is activated.

Have you recently updated your theme or any other plugins? There may be a conflict with an update causing this.
It is on all the pages that we have used a custom code:
Does it work if you just have [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW]?
